What kind of VDI do you get on the IHP with the equinox?

Most have rang up 18 for me

ihps can be a jumpy beast on ANY machine I have used. Sure those perfect condition shallow ones just grab right ahold and make your machine sing. but the deep ones, the corroded ones, or the ones on edge can jump all over the place. So far on the nox I have dug them anywhere from 16 to 23. also depends on how your machine is set up what vdi you would get.

IHP?????

Please explain. I am new to this....

Hi, I have only dug one IHP and it rang up at 18 also.

I get anything from a 15 to 21 on shallow and up to mid 30's up averaging on the deepies.

I have found only one (1903) since I got my EQ800 in early February. It rang in a solid 21, about the same as a zincoln.

17-20 so far for me. Different years were made from different alloys. According to the mint the Indian Head penny was introduced in 1859 with a composition of 88% copper and 12% nickel and a diameter of 19 mm and a weight of 4.67 grams. In 1864 the composition was changed to 95% copper and 5% tin with a reduced weight of 3.11 grams.

a lot of variables as well as soil conditions and types....kind forces you to dig anyways if you want them

Average 18-19 for me; deeper ones will sometimes bounce in ID a bit lower, and then -- as HighVDI said -- sometimes in some "sectors" as you rotate around and "Minelab wiggle" over the center of the target, you get some up-averaging into the upper 20s mixed in. Overall though, I'd say I hit them with an "average" VDI of around 18-19.

15 was my lowest VDI in Field2 worn Fatty, as high as 21

Good point, on the Fatties, pa-dirt_nc-sand, and 67GTA. Those will definitely read lower, on the VDI scale. The ones I am referring to, averaging 18-19, are the newer ones from 1864 onward...

Mine fall in the 18 - 19 range. Depends on the conditions like the others said.

Depends on ground mineralization also the mode your in will vary your VDI readout

19 or 20 on the last couple.

What kind of VDI do you get on the IHP with the equinox?

Surprisingly I found one last night in my grandmas yard that rand a solid 15 on the nox 800. was so surprised it came in so low, I checked it again out of the hole and sure enough still a solid 15. Typically though I’ve been finding them 18-19 range.

Sounds like it might be a "fattie." Can you read the year on it?
