While in a slump of late, with regards to CRHing halves, I decided to stop in to my favorite "Ike bank"; as they invariably always have some "in stock".

Also, found out today why they do invariably always have some "in stock". It seems while banks often say they can't specifically order Ikes (implying that you'll get Susan B's, Saca's or the latest mint propaganda coin; the presidential series) this bank can (and does) routinely order Ikes.

They had 100 today, I bought all, and included in the mix were a 77S proof (cupro nickel, as they didn't make any silver clad that year) and a 76S silver clad, Variety I (as they didn't make and Variety IIs in silver clad).

Not a bad way to wait for the half slump to end.

BTW, they gave me a new canvas bag to carry the Ikes too. :o

Thanks for the info. My bank has been good about keeping a supply on hand for me, I think I will talk to them about ordering me some Ikes.

Wow!

Great job on the proofs!
They are beautiful!

These type of posts are exponentially more enjoyable when they include a few nice pictures. (hint, hint):P

Wow Thurm...that is alot of Ikes!!! I have asked several banks if they could order the large dollar rolls and I always get that same answer. If you don't mind me asking what bank is that.....maybe I'll try again....lol. That would be fun to go through rolls of the large dollars....never know what you will find in them. I once found a Morgan dollar at a bank that had 18 Ikes in one of those envelopes they put the paper money in so I guess you just never know.

BTW - I save Ikes also, but not sure why....lol. What are your plans with them?

I agree, photos do exponentially enhance any post. But alas, I am still not photo-enabled (yet).

LJ, I believe their days of commanding a premium (minimum 30-50%) are in the not too distant future.

So I'm hoarding all I can find for now. Plus, you will find the occasional proof (silver or cupro-nickel) which already commands a nice price.

Continued good luck.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will keep collecting myself....lol.

The Key bank and Golden West Credit Union in my area will both order them for you.
