Will somebody please explain to me about IL DNR regulations regarding metal detecting in the parks. http://dnr.state.il.us/LANDS/landmgt/Programs/DayUse/metaldetect.htm
Dose that means that it is illegal to MD on public land in IL without the permit?
And how I can get the permit for the parks listed on the DNR website?
Thank you Audriusk.

2 yrs ago I had a permit to hunt in rock cut st. park. it was free and good for 3 yrs. you could not hunt in designated preserve areas. I only did the picnic areas to be safe.

Does anybody know where you get the permit from? I just always thought it was illegal on all state property here in IL.

Contact the park office where you want to detect. I would stick to the parks listed on the link.

I contacted the DNR

and received a response. Just have to apply at the park you want to detect, and they added, "obey the rules".
