I'm a DADDY! -Warning Graphic Pics!

Our chickens had a bad spring . last month 2 foxes came and killed 4 . Then a couple days later a fox came in the middle of the day and killed Mr. Rooster . We were out doing yard work , and we wittnessed the hole thing . We decided to try to get some of his offspring .With only 3 hens left , We decided to make a crude incubator from a styrofoam cooler I found on the side of the road . We did a lot of research first . The hens remain fertile for over a week after mating , so we stuck a bunch of eggs into it - and 21 days later ...... Here they come ! Mr. Roo's legasy ! We are new to even having chickens , so we are very happy it worked !

You did a fine job with the cooler...When I was a kid I sent off for an incubater out of Popular Science I think....We had chickens but I wanted one to call my own...One egg would fit in it and I ended up with a Rooster...named him Rochester....He was some smart bird..followed me to the bus stop...and was there waiting on me when I got home...Fox ended his life also...

Oh the memories! Thanks for sharing. Ma wasn't all that impressed with the cage in the kitchen for weeks . I was. One was born with a beak that was crossed, I hand fed her for ever, she couldn't pick up the food with her beak being out of align like that. Called her CB (Crooked beak) . We ended up having 30 of them for pets.

Aw, it is good to see Mr. Rooster's progeny is doing well.
One of the few things I never had as a pet...how did I miss chickens?

cause it dont like the same animals
