I'm back! 11/06
Hi all,
It has been crazy busy the past few months but my biking and canning season are now officially over and we're back in the school trenches. I've had a few skimpy yard hunts with nothing much to show. On Sunday I started at one of my field sites (former house, 1873+) for a couple hours. Soybeans were planted there this year so the stubble was much more manageable than the corn stubble from last fall. :P Early in the hunt I found my second thimble, which was high on my relic wish list. Late in the hunt I had a nice even low tone that I was hoping would be my first V nickel. I was pumped to see it was an 1868 shield nickel instead!
This is only my second coin from this field, the first an 1887 Canadian nickel.
Later in the afternoon I returned to a yard I had started last weekend. Best find there was a Foster, Martin, and Co. token, "hardware, stoves, & c., Monroe St., Grand Rapids, Mich." I could not find an exact match in my token database, so any help would be appreciated. One site listed it as "rare."
Also found some kind of decorative pin thing, possibly off a purse?
Old bling, anyways. It was great to be out with such nice Nov. weather.
Thanks for looking and HH,
Michiganne
