I'm convinced that one of these is a genuine artifact....not so sure about the other

Need some expert opinion(s) on a pair of creek finds from Sangamon county Illinois. I am guessing that this first piece is some sort of scraper or knife. It has definately been worked, and the areas of finger and thumb contact are polished. What would this piece be??

This second piece has an odd shape and is well worn, but what makes me suspect that it may be an artifact are the three grooves on the side. My fingers line up perfectly with the grooves...it is very comfortable to hold. The "hook" shape on one end is also intriguing. So..is it a tool of some sort, or something for the aquarium??

Thanks for any help!!!!

Looks like first piece is left over from mining flint and second idk looks natural but maybe someone else will help;)

Both are rocks, mother nature is good about forming shapes man's imagination turns into artifacts..

I agree. The first piece looks like it was maybe used as a source piece, maybe. The second looks natural to me.

Thanks, everyone!!!!:occasion14:

The first one looks like someone chipped a little off to see what it looked like inside, the second one is just a rock.

To me the first one looks like a typical stone that has been tumbled in a creek and gets banged around so it looks like it's flaked and polished. Since they say it was found in a creek I'm sure that's what that is. The second piece is also a naturally formed creek rock. Neither are artifacts.

Sorry.. me no see artifact.
