I came to Las Vegas on Saturday evening. I'll be here for a few days, for a convention. So, I brought some halves 9to dump) and also was expecting to really spend some time going through the machines and looking for silver halves.

I have gone up and down the strip. there are NO CASINOS THAT TAKE COINS ANYMORE!

What is going wrong here? I have read the posts about "I went to the casino today. Got a franklin, and three 40s, etc, etc." HOW?

I checked. All the casinos use these tickets now. YOu don't put money in the machines, except bills, and you don't get money out. They print you a ticket and you take it to the cashier to get your money.

So, how are you getting halves on the 50 cent machines? I keep reading it over and over again, but if the machines don't give coins, something isn't adding up.

ANy help out there? :-)

From what Immy says you have to move away from the main strip. Think the smaller older places that still have older machines. HTH

Let me get this straight...

You come into my backyard and expect me to give away my trade secrets?? Wellll, okay, just this once. But don't tell anyone!

Go downtown young man, as in Fremont Street. Hit the following casinos:

Fitzgerald's [20 50¢ machines]
El Cortez [10]
Western [8]
Fremont [6]
Las Vegas Club [3]

The only non-downtown casino that still has 50¢ machines is Slots-a-Fun, next door to Circus Circus. It has 13 machines.

So there you go! Just let me know where you're dumping and leave some silver for me!

Good luck!

lol, Immy is correct, But its rather hard to search there. Pit bosses looking over your shoulder. Others asking what your doing. and of course, the resistance to play!
When you dump cash in and cash out over and over a lot of people start looking because usually you only here the dumping sound when your winning.
the re fillers of the machines get ticked pretty quick too. So be descreate.

The last thing you want to have happen in Vegas is to get back roomed! lol

I must have spend 3 or 4 hours at Fitz and Vegas club back in January and only managed to pull 6 40s

So there is silver to be found, but its hit and miss. And you could be going though Immys Dumps. As that is his territory.
I did much better playing holdem, letting cocky drunks chase away and make bad calls. the only place in Vegas that you can walk away with cash if your patient and sober I have found!
Otherwise, dont spend more than you can just throw away.

Thank you Immy. to me, 6 in 4 hours is s GOOD rate. I have now gone 35 skunk boxes in 38 tries in Arizona. Only 3 of 38 with silver! That just doen'st work!!

I'm going to hit these tonight, so if you are int he area, pop on down. Say hello. Tomorrow i"m in a meeting all day, and then i go home. So, tonight is only night. I"ll work them for a little while, and work between them all, so that i don't draw too much attention. Try to not spoil it for you. :-)

I did find FIVE on my way up here. Stopped at my regular bank to make a deposit on my way out of town, and they had 2 unopened rolls. Found 5 in those two rolls. That adds up to almost the ame as my total from 38 boxes. LOL. I get silver from time to time from my banks, just in loose change or a roll or two, but my boxes are almost all skunks. 35 of 38 skunks for the year now. I think Phoenix must be one of the areas worked hard by Jackson metals earlier.

I'll let you know tomorrow how I did. even ONE would make my day. really. :-) And I am o for the duration on Franklins, so would love to find one of those.

thanks again. I REALLY appreciate it. And since I'm here for a convention only, and don't gamble, I won't be in your back yard for more than this one day. :-D

Dang, I was there this morning (Fitz, that is) just before going to a movie and then to my Mom's. Did a quick $200 search and got a 67 & 69, not bad. I have an early day at work tomorrow so I'm in for the night or I'd meet with ya, jrf. Maybe next time. For sure LMK how you do.

Immy,

One of them I couldn't get coins back out. It gave a ticket instead of coins. Coins could go in but not out. I think that was Fremont. However, at the Fritz I was very discrete and pulled out 1 90% and 4 40%s in 90 minutes. I am HOOKED>

If i lived in LV I'd be there every two days or so! HA! Good thing I don't.

I also didn't understand that when I put coins in I could not ge them right back out, but had to "play them". So I put in a $50, got coins, then added a few back in. It would not let me cash out, as I had no "credits" Only coins. So I had to throw more bills in, get coins, and then cash them in at the cashier.

The cashier's were fine with it. They did not care. I was nervous, but they did not care. :-)

ANyway, five in one day (And a short one at that) is GREAT in my eyes. I have only gotten five two other days EVER. And one was last week, ont he way out of town to here! The other was a long time ago. Other than that, I've never had better than a 1 silver coin day! Just not a lot in Phoenix. But, I loved this today. Plus - downtown was AWESOME. I loved the lights in the ceiling and the music, and hte whole attitude. It was so different han the strip! The dres code was different, the age of the people was different. It gave a totally different feel than the strip did.

Thanks again for helping. now it is back to you. But you make my day - and my month. :-)

I have never been to Las Vegas so I don't quite get how the coin hunting relates to a slot machine.
If you put a half into the machine to try to win some lucky number or jackpot, and not win anything, then what? Where does the coin hunting part come in?

We used to like to go play the machines every few months - now, every single one locally, has the ticket deal, and Deadwood has about 95% ticket machines.

I liked the sound of coins coming down - but, alas, I hear it no more. In fact, I've been gambling once, and I spent about $2.00.
