As I was growing up, and still today, I always saved any nickels from my change that were dated 1959 or older. Just something about the 50's and before always seemed "old" to me. I've got countless rolls of them stashed away. Most are average circulated, but there are occasional gems in them. I'd have to unroll all of them to find the nice ones since I haven't seen them in so long. Now I'm starting to wonder what to do with them. Too cool to just spend, but doubtful anyone would buy them for any added value, and doubtful my kids would know what to do with them.
If I remember right a 100 makes a pound.
Electroplating companies were buying nickels instead of nickel buttons for the plating process.
It was a win win situation for yrs while nickel was high in price.
Today it's around $10.00
