Found this today at a confederate camp site. Thought this would make a good first post.

The more I look at this I think the musket ball was placed on the bore and fired. I cannot imagine a collision this centered. Anyone seen one of these before?

Very cool, I think it's trench art, I think too many impossible things would have to happen for two colliding projectiles to stick together.
 

looks like a carved chess piece --like a pawn or bishop
 

I would suspect it carved but there are pronounced rifling marks om the miniball and no knife marks

It looks like a piece from a chess set. A Confederate soldier must made that in his spare time. Very cool. A museum display worthy piece if you ask me.
