Indian artifact?

[Don Lewis]

What do you think? A hunter found this in the woods hunting. They pulled it out with a machine and now it sits in a town park.

[xr7ator]

Fossil of some sort is my guess.

[Treasure_Hunter]

Not an indian artifact.

Knowing the size would help a little, but it looks like a large stationary mortar for grinding grain probably coarse .

I agree
Doesn’t show any use wear in the divot.
Interesting rock though

It’s huge Tony. Not something that was moved around. It was made out of a very large rock. I wish I knew the story about this rock. And why it was made and used for.

No signs of being used to grind corn, center is way to course.

Yes it’s course all the way around the bowl.

Maybe a basin for spring water?

That’s as good of guess as any.

I don't know what it is but I know what it's not, an Indian artifact. Neat looking rock for sure.

I wonder what an archaeologist thoughts would be on this rock.

He could write 3, or 4 pages on it right or wrong!
