Nice finds!!! Most likely a 1859 Indian. 1858 would been flying eagle. Nice counterstamp.

59! notice no shield on the back. willy

Pretty neat IH Max.. curious as heck on the E button too, looks like a nice place to rehit again..

Enjoyed that video, Max! Beautiful place to be out and hunting. I'm gonna guess on the Indian cent and say that maybe it was like a hard times store token? Something along those lines? Let's give your post a bump and see if we can't get your button and the Indian an ID. :icon_thumright: Excellent hunting!

Nana

Interesting counterstamp on the Indian. I dug an 1895 today in really bad shape.

From the land of the Bluenose....well me bouy that sounded like a mating call to one of our Canuck geese. Interesting penny and glad you got out. Enjoyed the vid and best of the season me bouy! :tongue3:

Man that 1859 Indian Head with the counterstamp is just a Terrific find! I don't think I can recall but maybe one other time in all my years of digging of seeing an Indian Head that was Counterstamped and what an awesome stamp it is! Congratulations and I would've been VERY happy with that find :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

That is a very cool Indian head that your partner dug. The thing with the E is not a button. What it is, I'm not sure, but I dug two of them while I was in Virginia and neither one had evidence of a shank attachment, exactly like yours. The two I dug were at one site, also in VA beach. :dontknow:
