in our annual strawberry festival poster. Thought it is really neat & wanted to share with ya.

600600p435EDNmainstrawberry%20poster.webp Kornick said Ponchatoula means "flowing hair" in the Choctaw language. She said Native Americans call the strawberry the "heart berry."

i like your picture of you talking to the lady at the strawberry stand where you were telling her about an artifact

Superb!
Have heard of a strawberry in afterlife journey.
Thanks for sharing.

That's a great painting. Not historically accurate at all but a good piece of art. My Dad's side of the family has enrolled Choctaw members in SE Oklahoma. I heard Choctaw spoken a lot when I was little but paid no attention to it, but I understand some of it still, plus I got the Choctaw dictionary. Pashi means hair and itula means hanging. It's Louisiana so is there Spanish moss in that place? Pashiitula is what you would call that. I'm seein somethin that ponche means place, something you would call a place. So maybe Ponchapashiitula, place of the hanging hair (spanish moss in the trees) which could be anglicized to Ponchatoula, place of hanging.
