I've gotten around to cleaning and sorting the buttons and bullets I found on this year's trip to sites occupied during the Indian War in the west. I still have some more things to sort through, but figured I'd post some of the finds while they were still fresh in my mind. I found 69 total Eagle buttons, but the ones pictured are the only ones that were in near perfect condition. Second photo is the bullets for the .45-70. Next are .58 caliber conicals of various types. Then some round balls....mostly .69 cal, but the two on the bottom are .54s. Friction fuses and a cannonball fragment are in the 5th photo. The last one is some bullets that I haven't sorted through and identified yet, but I'm fairly certain most of them are period correct. It was a great trip this year. I'm hoping I can do it again.

HOLY SMOKES that’s a lot buttons! Good job :occasion14:

Just my opinion but maybe cleaning them should be reconsidered? They are old, it’s ok if they look old. I gotta admit they look great though!

I respect that, but I'm a 30 year veteran. Buttons should be shiny.
