I think Dognose is in the glaciated part of IN. If so, the creeks are probably similar to those in Central IL. Clogged with silt from farming. It’s rare to find a rocky creek here.

Missouri has a lot of stone bottom creeks with little silt. Most of the creeks I hunted were bordered by natural land or cattle land.

I had one spot Northwest of Columbia, Mo, it was a valley that had hills and bluffs on 3 sides, north, west and east, south was open, farmed and hills bordering it were wooded as were the hills around valley, it had a lot of natural raw flint in hills, and also had a junction where a creek emptied into a stream, the creek was spring fed. It was a natural place to camp and winter and they did.

The valley was farmed and I got farmer's permission to hunt it. Only cost me a case of work gloves I was given by telcom company I worked for to give out to farmers where our fiber crossed or bordered their land.

Found so many artifacts there.

I have to agree totally with you on Missouri's creeks ! I've been in a lot of them in my younger years !
