Have not found much about Peter Donohoe and no picture or info about this bottle on the Internet. The twisted neck version seems more common. If you know anything about it please leave a comment. Whiskey bottle. Embossing says: "Peter H. Donohoe 40 Church St and 51 Green St. Lowell Mass". Clear color. A few bubbles in the glass. Turn of the century. River find. IMG_20201028_112919_238.webp

Neat looking bottle!

Cool bottle.

Peter Henry Donohue began work in a wholesale spirit rectification business owned by his father ((James Donohue) on Gorham Street, Lowell, Massachusetts in 1871. The business subsequently relocated to Ingham Block on Church Street and, on 18 March 1889, Peter opened extensive premises at 224- 230 Central Street and 16 William Street, selling liquor at retail level. In June 1893, the interior of these stores was “enlarged and remodeled with all improvements necessary for the proper facilitation of business, and with an elegance of equipment heretofore unsurpassed in similar lines of business in the City of Lowell” [ref: Illustrated History of Lowell and Vicinity, 1897].

Not sure when he moved, but the 1915 Lowell City Directory gives his addresses as 40 Church Street and 51 and 51½ Green Street. He sold wines, brandies and whiskies (including his own brand whiskey ‘Lamb Club’) until prohibition, which began in Lowell at 11 PM on 30th June 1919.

If the business re-opened after prohibition, it wasn’t at the Church Street address since those premises had been taken over by an electrical contractor since at least 1922.

Can we have a picture of the bottom of the bottle?

Sometimes there's really good info on the bottom.

@Red-Coat Awesome information. Thank you so much.

@DeepseekerADS Here are pics of the bottom and the neck. Bottom has some faint concentric rings. The seam goes half way past the ring on the neck.
