Hey kevin, I sat at the bar here in spanish wells and only saw the red shirts of the FNM. I herd alot of people that were very excited for change, and I must say it looked like a landslide victory. I am not up to speed on the politics of the Bahamas, but I herd alot of fisherman that were happy about china not being able to gain a foothold in bahamian waters. I was wondering what you thought about the change. Do you think that it will effect the treasure permitting process, or do you think the same old antics and corruption will continue ? The PLP is gone and now its time for some change. All I know is that things seem to stay the same over here no matter who is in charge. And that goes back as far as pindling for me. Either way it was one hell of a celebration party and people seemed genuinely excited. My head hurts this morning, lots of drinks on the house last night.

Bart, As I Bahamian I like the idea of the change ( probably for the better in my view) but I hate the fact it was a landslide, a strong opposition is vital in any country.....

I do believe UNESCO made veiled threats on the quiet to the previous administration and they caved. I do not think the new Govt will be swayed so easily. So shipwreck permits organized properly are a much more likely scenario now...

Anyway we'll see......( ps see you next week)

Cool, I kinda got the same vibe from the fishermen. They all seem to think that china wont be able to buy there way in to the fishing rights. Alright kevin lets hope for the best, see ya soon.

The fishermen don't want to see any permits issued. They would loose all their favorite fishing spots.

and how is the "heir to the throne" doing?

I see him every day and do so gladly.........

It's very relevant, you never get it all.... let's get a Permit and go back....

And we left a lot; including hundreds of (empty) beer and Champagne bottles.
Wonder what each one of them would fetch today?
But maybe Nick and his subsequent partner(s) got them; don't know that one.
Don.....

Don I just went to the old girl and shes locked up like a drum, just as you left her. Port side bulwarks exposed and starboard side just under the sand. Fanned around the stern and saw lots of ceramic shards and bottle shards. She is still totally intact and in one piece. More than half the islanders dont even remember where she is. She's waiting to be re explored. Gosh I wish I was there with you back in the day. What an incredible intact wreck she is. Wood is as hard as iron still. Kevin now I understand who the heir to the throne is !! Have one for me and toast the new government for me.

Just sounds like a great place to visit and stay awhile....be careful or you'll have all us old guys down there......

Wonder if those beer bottles looked anything like this one ??photo-138.webpphoto-140.webp
Got to love the Bahamas hope the FNM speaks for the people.
