Hello everyone. I haven’t been out too much lately but made a short trip to a central Florida 1830s fort site on private property. While digging I got a super strong sound and dug up this thing. While I’m not sure what it is, it kind of reminds me of an inkwell stand. What say you and thanks for looking. Any clues on its age would be greatly appreciated.

Is it cast iron? It isn’t overly ornate. I wonder if it could be a piece from a wrought iron porch railing or even from a wrought iron Grave marker. It resembles a newel post somewhat.
