I live in NW Arkansas and have recently taken up metal detecting. This week I found a token while detecting what I believe to be an old swimming hole/picnic area. It is the size of a half dollar and on one side is a horseshoe with the words "You're lucky to know of Inland when you need money" inside the horseshoe. On the other side "Money loaned on automobiles. Low rates-easy terms. Inland Investment Plan. Chicago Motor Club Bldg. 11th floor. 66 E. So. Water St. Chicago. Branches Aurora Peoria Oakpark" Any information on the token would be appreciated, especially the approximate age.

It's listed in Trade Tokens of Illinois, 2nd Ed. by Ore H. Vacketta (1983). Rated R5, "very rare, 5-10 known, value $3-5" at the time of publication. Evidently, it's still close to that price range, as I found this one offered by token dealer Bob Slawsky in 2002:

"Money loaned on automobiles, Inland Investment Plan, Chicago, Aurora, Peoria, Oakpark," br, 31mm, AU . . . $3.50

To see the original Slawksy listing, scroll down to #996 on the following page:

Sounds nice, can you post a pic??
