I found this bronze item about a week ago besides an ruin built in 1102. So the item has some potential in being very old. But it could also be quite new. It is not exactly symmetrically shaped and the small hole in the item is not in the very middle. It also has a very smooth and green copper patina on it. It weighs 34.5 g and the diameter is c 53mm x 48mm.

Here are the pictures:

Here is also a photo of it after it's cleaned:

If you know what this item is or have any clue of what it is please let me know. Thank you

Doesn't ring a bell and it looks like something that would have a vast amount of various applications like a brass bushing?. As for how old, I'm going with something made no more than 110 years ago. Maybe something from the time of WWII. :dontknow:

Decorative ring. The small hole is countersunk and looks threaded where a small flathead screw would be.

doubt im correct.. my first impression was a bearing race or bushing. the hole was for grease..

I have to agree with the other guys here, it closely resembles a brass bearing bushing.
It looks to be of a modern casting/finishing as well, so I'm thinking mid-20thc in date.

reminds me of a collar for a pole or something with the set screw hole.

Forwhatever its worth...

My 2 cents worth... To me this looks very much like a Victorian era curtain ring... similar to this...

I guess there were Peeping Toms in 1102 requiring said curtain ring.

Great find!

When I saw that the hole looked threaded I immediately changed my mind. I thought it may would've been from the late medieval periods but not as old as a thousand years though. I am still happy of what it turned out to be, a positive identification is always something positive ;)
