Any ideas on what country of origin this might be and time period. A bit stumped as I've not found a button like this before. It's pretty heavy, about the size of a dandy button and made of brass maybe?

Well it has the shape of some I've seen from the 18th century but not sure on the shank. Is the shank a round one, is it soldered on? Some of the 18th century shanks were of the wedge style or flat. Nice find either way.

I can't tell because there's a build up of rust where the shank is. I dug it in an iron patch. Also, the spot is pretty old. I originally went there because I was told there was a small Native-American village there and that was one of the spots they did a majority of their trading. Is it true? I don't know.

yep, it's old, and I have a large one shaped like it. 1770s or 80s probably. I know the site I dug mine was early.
