This plate? The back looks to have been lead filled, front says -------- on top and [ new bern nc] on bottom, can't make out what top says, wish I knew, and 1 piece I button, and rose flat button
Update, so the bottom defanately says new bern nc, which I live in new Bern, and top looks like a 3 letter initials, a k something maybe

Stop at nothing to identify that plate.

The large button appears to be an eagle I button , more , better pics would help----nice finds :icon_thumleft:

That's a wonderful early one piece Infantry button. C. 1821 and later, but still early.

That plate could be something really great. See if you can figure out the etchings.

Congrats

Congrats on some nice finds, good luck with ID

Congratualtions on the historical finds! :occasion14:

Interesting finds! I'll be checking back for progress on this one. :icon_thumleft:

Very cool plate.....I see ( Harris N.C.) scrolled on it. Does anybody else see what I am seeing?

Seriously, you need to to post more photos, there are people here that can really help with identifying that item.
Kudos!

Here's a better pic. It looks hand etched, there were soldiers camped here in the early 1800s so maybe from one of them?

Sometimes its better not to know just imagine what it could be Great job hope to see more Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Perhaps a trunk plate with the owners initials and place of residence? I found a rectangular lead filled one with initials and thought I had a rare military plate at first haha! I live that one piece infantry, awesome digs!!

Interesting finds, good work.

Great finds. I hope you can identify it.
