Interesting Find.. Please Help Identify

I found this little thing while hiking around a year or so ago and am having trouble identifying it. Obviously, it is nothing man made, so if I am posting in the wrong spot, please let me know (I am new to this). It almost looks like petrified food, but its layered around the center/core. I would appreciate any help. Thanks....

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Boredom! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (your location may help, etc.)...

I agree with Jeff. I find them where a tree has rotted. The knots are the last to rot.
