This very worn coin represents the 200th find for my MXT. I found it last week in northern California with some other unidentifiable stuff (you can check my post on the What Is It forum to see the other wierd coin I found). I am fairly sure that this is a brass Irish halfpenny. All the readable parts confirm that much. Its value is negligible, but to me, it is of course worldy treasure, never to be parted with. Thanks for looking!

CalDoug,

Nice find. Someone will identify it for you...this site is full of very knowledgeable folks who are willing to lend a hand.

I'm from N. Cal myself. Ever get up as far as Mt. Shasta?

With what you have shown it does look like a King James II coin. Shame on the condition, but at least attributable.. :) circa 1685-1688.

Anything on the reverse side at all?

Don

Cool coin, and very nice find,

Eddy
