Iron thing, maybe a rein guide?

What do you think this is ?? I thought maybe an iron ring guide.? the entire thing measures 6 inches by 4 inches, and the spike is 3 inches.? It was painted white or at least has white paint on it.? the loop is hinged on one side.? I live on an 1840's farm and this was found during a re-route of an underground drainpipe next to the driveway.

That looks like a drain pipe holder that is mounted to the house and hold the pipe in place. That would explaid the traces of white paint on it.
