Is a beach pinpointer necessary? Pistolprobe Propointer xpointer under saltwater

Seems PI technology's outcome is best. Others(Propointer Pro-find, Xpointer ) will balance and loss 1/4 distance .

There is none of serious pin pointers designed for beach or shallow water hunting yet. Do you think it is necessary to have one in market?

I carry one but rarely use it in dry or damp sand. Don't carry one when wading. Maybe if I scuba'd or snorkeled I'd use one more.

When I first started beach I used pinpointer couple times at beach then quit. They are just something extra to carry and lose.....

Pin-Pointer is not worth the time and hassle to use it.

If something is small enough to fall through your scoop, you just make a quick scoop for it, and shake the scoop over your coil. When you hear a twang, stop shaking, and most of the time, the small target is laying on the surface of the sand.

And if you dump a scoop of wet sand on the slope, you just fan out the pile with your foot. Most of the time you can see the target, if not, a quick scan of the coil will find it's location in the fanned out sand.

And it would be crazy to use Pin-Pointer in shallow water. I would be like chasing a fish in a fishbowl.


Although, you can wear that PistolProbe in a handgun holster. Now that won't draw any attention to you or the hobby

Has a lot to do with locations, I hunt spots that are littered with trash and the targets are in clay. Silver can be black and crusty like everything else. So has a lot to do with the locations....

PP can be a time saver in these locations....

Not so fast! I've had situations where I would have loved to have had one with me.
I'm going to pull a couple things out of a frame right now and use my hand as a size reference.. Think about the size of the holes in your scoop when looking.. Also keep in mind these are often found in numbers when one is found

My scoop has a strip of aluminum gutter screen attached around the bottom 1/5 of the scoop that catches the tiny objects, it has caught stud earrings, so It would have no problem catching them...

nope absolutely useless. i have tiny holes in the back and bottom of my scoop. i can get bbs and split shots. even if i didnt still useless as tits on a boar.
