There 2 different machines,
It depends on what you want to do, like beaches, gold...The infinium is a PI (pulse induction) machine, It will find deeper treasure but you'll dig more trash because you can't discriminate junk out as well as the DFX, plus the infinium is waterproof.

I heard from a reliable source,that there have been Garrett Infinium's,being returned,Was interested in buying one,instead purchased a Minelab Excalibur 1000,Main area of detecting,East coast of Florida beach.Ronald99

The garrett is very sensitive and can take some getting used to. Like the other post said it doesn't miss a thing, I've had to dig 12 to 18" only to find a tiny fish hook, bobby pin, or bread bag wrapper. While it does have a discrimination feature, it still finds junk. I dig all my hits anyway.
