Hello Forum,

Happy New Year! This is the last mystery for the year for me. I found this object in the backyard of an old farm house. Could this be a tractor weight? It measures 17-1/2" long x 6" tall. It is hollowed out, but very heavy. it was only buried a few inches deep.

How about some more views ?

Looks like a mold for making paver blocks.

If it is made of lead it could have had a variety of uses ,from a windmill weight to disc weight to just an ingot for when lead was wanted.:dontknow:

Okay, I washed it and took some more pictures. After washing it there are some visible marks on the top, as well as inside where there are depressions. Maybe this was some sort of guard cover that went over some piece of farm equipment. Again it measures 17-1/2" long x 6" tall.

Ok, so my ACE 250 starts out at Iron / Foil then it jumps to Nickel, Gold, Copper, and then silver. It's probably just all of the mineral content. I think it's Iron. I can say that my magnet sticks to it.

I think it's a pad or cup mount for double coil springs.

This is an interesting idea, and could explain the shape, and inside contour. If you are correct, I wonder what it went to. I searched for images, but I haven't come up with any like this thing.

I'm thinking tractor seat springs, but I dunno.

I'm thinking it's something similar to the top piece in this photo:ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1483451538.990041.webp
