Is it Hemitite?

I live in the lead belt, & there are so many different minerals here I'm not really sure what this is. I found it at a road cut. It doesn't have the growth patterns that I associate with hematite. Any feedback would be appreciated.

My gawd I'm afraid to say what I think it looks like! But its a safe bet I know little about minerals, sorry I can't help, but it IS mighty strange looking, looks like a fossilized version of something Lorena Bobit threw out long ago. Sorry.

You aren't the first one to say it. I suppose it is true, but all I can see is a rock formation that surely must have formed like a stalactite. I found several pieces of this material, but only 3 that were in this formation. Hopefully someone can tell me what it is.

Looks like hematite. Give it a streak test and see if the streak is red. Interesting formation.

Streak test is the way to go!
