Or are the finds on this forum getting smaller and smaller. Is everybody posting what they find or keeping it a secret.
My county and surrounding counties dried up of silver over six months ago. I stop once in a blue moon and ask for
half dollars, the teller(s) look like this >>>> :laughing7:

They are stocked with everyones dumps and are more than happy to let me purchase them. I have traveled over 100
miles in all four directions on road trips. NOTHING, most banks looked at me like I had two heads. One teller told me
she had a box in the vault that had been sitting there for years  said I will take it. Paid the $500.00 dollars
walked out to the car and every single roll had been gone through. Went back into the bank because I felt I was lied to
and preceded to dump the entire box right into the coin machine. The teller was kind of smirking at me when I left, now
I knew why. She wasn't smirking when I took the DUMP box back and dumped it right back on them. I never dump where
I eat but I felt lied to and this bank was over 70 miles from my normal territory. Took the receipt up to exchange for cash
and she tried to charge me 6% to use the machine. NOPE I told her, here is my account number and it is free.
She was P Off'd to say the least. I then walked over to the customer service agent, asked to close my account and withdraw
my funds. When asked why on earth I would do that, I gave her the truth, the smirking teller. Went back a couple of months
later and teller was gone. :headbang:

granted ive only been hunting a couple months so my perspective is limited, but my boxes have been pretty consistent. I usually get 2-3 pieces per box. I've had the occassional box with 6-10 and then i get some skunks to which keeps my average around 2-3.

Now also I think it depends where you live. It makes sense that East coast overall has more silver since people have been living there for longer. However I think your proximity to a major or multiple major metropolitan areas also makes a difference. For example in Los Angeles I'll never be able to visit all the banks here let alone half of them. But if you are further out it definitely limits your supply without having to do major road trips.

Thats my perspective, dunno if its right or wrong.

The finds in OK City area were pretty thin starting about February. Then when silver went over $40 in April it dried up. I find one or two dimes now in approx $500 in shotgun rolled dimes. If I can find any customer rolled it is about the same. I haven't found a silver half in 4 months now. Mostly because none of the banks have them and the bags the banks obtain for me are all skunks.

On a recent road trip I scraped up $1775 in halves. Found two 87-Ps.

I'm still coming up with good finds here and there, but one of my banks that I got a bunch of good scores at seems to have almost dried up. I'm averaging 0-1 silvers per box the last month or so, previously I was getting at least 5-10 per box with my best being 84 in 1 box a couple months ago. I just don't have the heart to cut this bank, so I lowered my weekly order from 4 boxes to 2.

I have two other banks that literally dried up (temporarily), they told me Dunbar informed them that they ran out of half dollars. I let a couple weeks go and ordered again, first box back had 46 silvers in it.

My area is producing well, I do not CRH as much as many on here, therefore I post less. I am currently "slowly" opening a PERSONAL dream box of halves(5 enders through the 2 boxes, 3 in one box and 2 in the other)- picked up 2 boxes yesterday, opened 25 rolls yesterday and 30 today. 45 rolls left to open, most likely will do 5 rolls each day- thursday friday and saturday. On sunday I am opening the remaining 30 rolls with grandpa who started me into coins ~9 years ago and my passion for coins has grown since.

Competition has gotten fierce. Right now there are 48 guests viewing these posts. That is huge compared to a year or 2 ago.
We have created this monster ourselves. We are all searching each others dumps so the finds are diminishing. Gone are the days to stumble into a bank with dusty halves hidden in a corner of the vault. Yeah I know we occasionally read of some success but the finds are getting skimpy. The change to dimes from halves is natural progression. 5 times the coins for the same output of cash, all 90% dimes(no 40% ers). The lower cost of dimes and the ease in dumping makes them very attractive. JP

Population density also plays a roll in the amount of NEW MINT STATE boxes of nickles and dimes you come across. Sometimes it's bothersome, you don't want to just dump them. You feel a responsibility to sell them off the fellow collectors for almost no profit. The east coast is no prized territory for silver, no lie. I've been doing this for 6 months and only had one box with over 10 pieces (halves). I usually get 1-3 pieces if it's not a skunk, and half the time it IS a skunk box. Again, more population density = more collectors and CRHers per unit area.

I'm a small time CRHer. My finds are pretty slim, but, for me, it's a hobby.

I think this has a lot to do with it

Word is spreading to the average person that gold and silver is money, not fiat. They're starting to see the value of bullion and old coins.

"hey wow I can get a carwash for only a quarter, gee, I can get a carwash for a few years with that jar grandpa passed on to me for real cheap!"

...Wow, it comes to that... I guess people who have no clue on silver will think .25 or .30 is a good deal for the carwash,

That's crummy. I hope you find some silver soon. I hate going on road trips and getting skunked. With gas prices being so high it's hard to even go on small trips. I still do maybe once a week now. I was going out every other day when I first started out a couple years ago. It seems like I have better luck with Garage sales lately, so I've been doing more of that than roll hunting. Good luck, you'll find some sooner or later
