Is the Beale codes a hoax?

Can anyone explian the following to me? (To systematize a plan for my work I arranged the papers in the order of their length, and numbered them, designing to commence with the first, and devote my whole attention to that until I had either unravelled its meaning or was convinced of its impossibility - afterwards to take up the others and proceed as before. ---

Paper number "1" describes the exact locality of the vault so that no difficulty will be had in finding it

If the papers was numbered by Ward how it possible for beale to say paper number 1?

HA! PROBABLY a "code"... DUNNO. Gotta remember that TJB probably wrote the letters & Beale Ciphers by "hand", with a FEATHER PEN, in 1819. The ciphers may NOT have been type-set, as in the BEALE PAPER(S) (letters & ciphers). MAY not have been "lined-up" as neatly as in a pamphlet/booklet. YOU think JB Ward wrote "BP"? He was ONLY the AGENT for the author... who I think was Ferdinand Hutter, of the CONFEDERATE WAR... AND! Ward & Hutter were COUSINS; their "COMMON" grandfather was JB RISQUE! Formerly from Fincastle, VIRGINIA!

well anyway the pamplet stated that the one who broke code 2 also numbered the papers by length,and in code 2 that was broken beale made the statement that paper number "1" would tell the exact location,if the papers were not numbered then how did Beale come up with the words paper number "1" ?

At the very least this much debated point proves that the author of the Pamphlet story and the author of the ciphers were either, A) one in the same, or B) that the author of the pamphlet story was fabricating a certain amount of the story. There are other "huge blunders" or "tell-tells" in the story as well if you take the time to look for them. For instance it's already a proven fact that the claimed adventure could not have taken place as it was told, or within in the time frames described. Only the blind true believers still cling to this notion, and this number is "very few". A hoax? Maybe, maybe not, as there does exist a few possibilities as to why the author had no choice but to create the adventure portion of the story.

And there you have it, one of the many other possible theories that still come into play even without the original adventure portion of the story. Today the actual serious hunting isn't for a treasure, but rather it has largely become a hunt for the truth behind the tale.

Letters were passed on, to Ward,He tried his best ,but, could not. Agree, he didn't print, but,he did put in pamphlet form,what morriss said, what Beale looked like,ect. The letters,and codes are not Wards. The Beale Papets pamphlets,are. The printing place didn't write Lol,,,,justsayn
