The wheaties I find in agricultural fields here in Arkansas come out of the ground CORRODED. I mean super-corroded. (I suspect its the fertilizers/chemicals) Usually I can just barely make out a portion of Lincoln's outline. No letters, no partial date, nothing. I have tried the peroxide method with pretty much no results. I have let them soak in extra virgin olive oil for months, even years with no help either. Generally speaking, I am not a fan of cleaning coins, but it couldn't possibly hurt the value of a wheatie that you can just barely tell is even a wheatie to begin with. As far as that goes, a cleaned 1909-S VDB is worth more than an unreadable penny. (Hey, a guy can dream! 
) Is there any way at all to "clean" wheaties like these at least to the point where a date is obtainable? Would a tumbler remove corrosion like this?
