My father in law purchased this for my Mother in law and was told it was an authentic coin but the seller could not tell them any thing else about it. I have posted these in the past and everyone has given me great info. Is it real? if so when was it stuck by who and where could it be a shipwreck coin? Any info I can provide her about it would be awesome. In advance thanks for everyone's help.

It is a sea-salvaged cob as evidenced by the corrosion on the cross side. Based on the scale of the bezel and cob, I would guess that it is an 8 reales. You would have to weigh it to be sure. It was minted in Potosi and the assayer is Agustin de la Quadra who held the office from 1613 - 1616.
