Is this a Boy Scout Pin and how old?

Hi all,

I found this what I think is a Boy Scout pin at an old house built later 1800's Earlier 1900's I think.

Am i wrong? Can Anyone ID it or tell me a value?

do a google searcg for boy scout pin and see what comes up. a lot of people collect boy scout stuff.maybe you can find something.

Mudd, I answered your thread on the main forum. It IS a "Tenderfoot" pin from the boy scouts. Your picture shows it in the upside-down position. When a scout did his first good deed it could be turned up the other way so you have to do a good deed and post another pic with it in the correct position.

hey there,i have some bad news for you all,
its not a boy scout pin. no eagle on the front. and if you are wondering,i was a scout in the 60's and a scoutmaster. the tenderfoot badge has a eagle on it.
i would venture a guest that your item is some french pin,does it have a pin on the back or had one?

The Scouts were started pre-1900 i do belive,but if your in Ithica NY huntin then it could be a French style Button/pin also,On top of the old French Crown stood a Symbol like that......////hope that helps....

In 1909, American businessman W. D. Boyce became lost in a dense London fog. As he was trying to find his way, he was approached by a boy carrying a lantern, who offered to take Boyce to the address he was looking for. When they arrived at the destination, Boyce offered the boy a tip. The boy refused, saying, "No, sir, I am a Scout. Scouts do not accept tips for courtesies or Good Turns."

Boyce was so impressed with the lad and the Scouting concept he brought the idea back to the United States. On February 8, 1910, Boyce filed incorporation papers for the Boy Scouts of America in the District of Columbia.

The shape is called the flor de lis or "fleur de lis"...described as such...

FLEUR-DE-LYS
From Old French "flor de lis" flor (flower) + de (of) + lis (lily). A stylized three-petaled iris flower, used as the armorial emblem of the kings of France. It is commonly found in jewelry items.

I think its just a scarf pin or brooch. Still neat to find.
