Looks like a body builder. What does the back look like?

Looks like an eagle head in his left hand. Maybe a bird stretched across both hands. On top of a mountain? What is that between his legs? Seriously. If it is a uniform button, it might signify infantry.

Civel War buttons can be ID'ed by reading the back. Where was it made? For example my Confederate buttons were made in England. Can you show pic?
