Whatcha got there is a US Army "great seal" button... they were made from 1902 to present. :thumbsup:

The backmark looks older though (I think) so it'll be interesting to see what someone who actually has a button book will say about it! :)

Its a nice button but not a civil war button. I have a friend that has hunted a long time and never found a civil war button. He's still looking for his first bullet. Great find.

Well we know since the button did not exist until 1902 that it is 20th century and the Scovill backmark, which is blurry but it looks like the generic backmark that has a date range of 1860 into 20th century, Scovill ceased in 1970 to make buttons. In 1995 where the button factory stood, they tore it down and now a shopping center is there. :)

nice finds one thing puzzles me the button is blurred whilst the coins are sharp ? lol
