Is this a nutting/grinding stone?

I found this in northeast Tennessee at a site with known Cherokee history a few weeks back. The soil had been dug and piled up using an excavator and this was in the pile. It has an exposed chert face that looks like it has been used for bashing. It has a shallow discolored bowl shape on top and a narrow deeper hole on the side. What are y’all’s thoughts? Thanks!

it looks worked and used, I would not say natural.... see how it is not smooth?

It at least looks like it was used as a hammer as you said. Many so called nutting stones are actually hammers as I understand. The divot(s) were to facilitate a more firm grip on the hammer stone.
