Found this photo in an old photo album. Probably taken in Michigan. Does this look like President Truman?

if it's even a president, the man in the center with his hand on the railing/flag looks more like Herbert Hoover

The army and navy uniforms look very much like WWI. Does not look like Truman. He was a young man in WWI, an artillery officer I believe.

It looks like a 48 star flag, so that covers a lot of years. If you can date the headwear of the civilian men and women you might get a close date of the photo.

Not FDR

I tried to sharpen the picture a bit...

The uniforms on the left of the pic are Navy Vice admiral circa 1920.

Women's hats seem to be 1920's as well.

Why do you say Michigan?

FDR was secretary of the navy before he became famous for being president....

I agree that it is likely F.D.R.!! As stated above, he was the Secretary of the Navy in the teens, Assistant Secretary of the Navy before that and a two term New York State Senator. In 1920, he became the Democratic nominee for Vice President. Since the event vscience posted a pic of, was likely a political event or possibly the commissioning of a new U.S. Naval vessel, the person in the pic is likely F.D.R....

I hear ya but I don't think the guy in the pic looks like FDR. Besides, he's too fat.

Where are you guys finding that he was Secretary of the Navy? Assistant Secretary is all I can find. Teddy was Secretary at one point, but FDR? None the less, I can see it as him, but hard to find pictures of him without the big smile... except when hanging out with Stalin.

I think you are right! Although I knew that he served as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, I thought I read that he actually became the Secretary. However, it appears I was wrong and jumped to the conclusion. Sorry!

I think Michigan because the album belonged to a family that lived in MI. But then, maybe they took a vacation. ???

I think you got it Matt! Great research :hello2:

Do you think this could be from the trip Edwin Denby took with the Annapolis Class of 1881 in 1922. I think they went through the Panama canal to Hawaii, Philippines, Japan, China etc..

I was trying to match up some of the others with the names listed and this was one - Senator O.E. Weller of Maryland. I thought he could be a candidate for the "President Truman" looking individual....?

Admiral Joseph Strauss was also there - could he be the man on the far right?
