Found this photo in an old photo album. Probably taken in Michigan. Does this look like President Truman?

I think the guy next to Strauss is Major General Mason Patrick - Chief of Air Service in 1922.

I will speculate that with these three guys together, the photo is from October 22 or 23, 1922 at the Detroit Air Races after Denby sanctioned the participation of the Army and Navy in the races.

Other possible guests in the photo:

Selfridge Field - October 22, 1922. Among them were: Secretary of the Navy Edwin Denby, Assistant Secretary of War J. M. Wainwright, Maj. Gen. Mason N.Patrick, Chief of Air Service; Rear Admiral W. A. Moffett Chief Naval Aviation; Colonel Edgar of Detroit, Wing Commander M. G. Christie, Air Attache of the British Embassy at Washington, Rear Admiral Fullam, U. S. Navy (retired).

I could see the guy behind Denby as Col. Edgar Heigho: IMG_0035.webp

This is a puzzler--for such a VIP affair there is little to help ID the scene. The 20's seems right. I don't think either of the suits is FDR--he was younger when assistant sect. Not Truman. I feel like neither suit is a president. The one on the left could be Wilson if he was a stress eater and had his jowls removed. Could be a ship-launching--there were and are shipyards on the Great Lakes.

Welcome to the forum! It's nice to have another member who understands the discipline of the research and is willing to step in with a theory.

I look forward to your future posts.

I think I found the setting -- San Diego - this is from toward the beginning of the trip Denby took with the Naval Academy Class of 1881.

It looks like the "Truman" looking man could be former Congressman William Kettner-

Bramblefind, you are the Grandmaster of finding All the Print That's News to Fit.
Did everyone catch that word play?! -- I changed around The NY Times slogan... oh wait, and then I explained it... never mind, I'm lame.
