Hello all, can anyone offer up any info on this find. Im pretty sure itys a ship spike but have no clue how old or what type etc.

It was found in Dorset, UK, on the banks of the river stour near Christchurch on the south coast of England.

Several ship spikes are composed of solid bronze. Oxides show it is an iron ship spike. Judging upon its bent shape, it could’ve been from a shipwreck. Probably 1700’s.

Could be from anything really... from ship to buildings to dock.

I concur. The ones we find from old wrecks here are always brass/bronze.
