This looks too big to be a sewing machine spool. But it is south Alabama so it could be industrial. It is metal and appears like one end fits inside the other. I will have to clean it up more to see if there is any more writing. Thanks for your help. Found at a house site that is now crop land.
 

Sewing machine spools might have been that big at one time? :icon_scratch:
On a sunny day, a lot of sewing was done outside on pedal pump machines.
I did an online search and most thread spools seem to have been made of wood as opposed to iron. :dontknow:

It's more likely to be farm machinery related.

Looks like a piston from a master brake cylinder to me.

Someone at work suggested a bailing wire guide from a piece of farm equipment.

I cleaned it up and you are correct. It had a remnant of a seal on the one end. The metal seems to be magnesium or aluminum just by the way there is a little corrosion. Thank you for the ID.
