Different looking alright, but appears to me to be a geofact.

Might be a type of ironore. At one time when it was liquid it could of dried in some sandstone and then the sandstone eroded away leaving it in a design like you have found. Its natural but still a cool shape.
 

You saw it as something unusual! And why not? Perhaps an indian saw it as unusual too when he went on a vision quest to find his name! Chief Puma Claw was no puzziecat!
