Is this an artifact or some modern replica?

Just curious how I can determine if this indeed an artifact, or some modern replica. The edges seem awfully crisp and clean and symmetrical. Thank you for your opinions.

Looks like a Celt with a damaged end. How did you come about getting it

look for peck marks left from the manufacture shaping process. use a loupe to see if any mineralization can be seen in or around the peck marks, the polished areas and break area.
a greater chance to find this if it is there in rhe peck marks and / or break area.

where and how found could influence the mineralization.

Looks like possible celt, would help to have more pictures, you only gave us pictures of 2 sides, should always post pictures of all sides including both ends when asking about something found, especially Indian artifacts.

Damaged Celt. The real deal, not much doubt. No one would make a fake Celt with a broken edge. The rock they used is exactly the correct one for a Celt. Fine grained diabase. What state did you find it in?
