Is this an error?

Hi all. This was in circulation and it jumped out at me. Could someone please ID it for me? I don't know if it was an error or just something someone with a lot of time on their hands decided to do. As you can see in the second and third pictures, the obverse is slightly larger than the reverse. I assume the shiny portion is zinc? Thanks for replies from the knowledgeable members.

It got stuck in a commercial dryer and became worn as it turned. Very common.

NO..... more like a kid sat on a stoop, took a penny, rubbed it raw on cement on one side, then spent it. I did it myself as a kid, tails side is normal, heads worn down to nothing.

Yup, that coin spent some time kissing the concrete.

Looking at how the edge is reduced in the one photo still makes me believe dryer. It wouldn't be reduced like that by simply rubbing it on concrete.
