I found this tiny pin and was trying to figure out if it is from walgreens or,someting else?
There are a few old ones online with 20yrs (or less then 36) and they are 10 and 14k gold, different shapes and sizes.

Im thinking this maybe from the 70's and given out fairly recently.

Unless i am completly on the wrong path LOL Any ideas?

Thanks-Dawn.

Might try sending your photos to Dieges & Clust Jewelers, the maker of the pin, to see if they can shed some light on it for you.

Why do you think its Walgreens? Can you post the closest Walgreens pin that you found? My first guess would have been a school pin, 1936.

Agree. Prolly not Walgreens. W.S.S.? War Savings Stamps? World Ship Society? More likely a school pin from 1936.

Tell us where you live or where you found the pin. That will help.

I found it in Fort Lauderdale.

I thought Walgreen's because of that swirl on the W.. I looked into the war savings (w.s.s pins) and had no luck.

Emailing Dieges & Clust Jewelers is a good idea! Thanks.

Here are some Walgreen's pins that i found at auction. Both 14k gold.

Thanks for the replies :)

You may be right on about the curly W. And W. S. S. could be Walgreen's Super Store. Check this:

In 1934 the company opened its first Walgreen Super Store, in Tampa, Florida. At 4,000 square feet, the store was nearly double the size of the typical store, and it had a much larger fountain and more open displays of merchandise than an average store.

Who knew?

Cool find!

Call me blind, if you want, but it doesnt look like the same W to me. I could put the 2 side by side for you to compare, but why should I bother? ...its not even close. ...not Walgreens. Unless you have another pic with a straight W or a Walgreens pin with WSS. Are they made by D&C?

Searching D&C, you will see they made school pins in a similar style..http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-PS-...&otn=2&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=3476406798395151967 1936 Fort Lauderdale is no clue because most residents are from "up north". I lived in Fort Lauderdale since the 60's. Welcome to Treasurenet.

Where did you find it? Beach, school, park, home? We get a lot of Canadians here in the winter and they have Secondary Schools. This will be a tough one to solve.

I am not blind , i see the W's are different, I tossed out an idea, I wasnt writing law. The top of the W had a similar style, and compaines do change logos from time to time.

Thanks for the welcome and reply, I guess my best bet is to email D&C.

I would never call anyone blind, other than myself. ;D Anything is possible and Walgreens is a good idea but I do not see anything presented yet to connect this pin to Walgreeens. You may try searching old Walgreens logos if you feel there may be a connection.. :dontknow:

Could you tell us where you found it? (Beach, school, park, home?)

:icon_scratch: Yes this is gonna be a tough one to figure out. :icon_scratch:
I will continue to look b/c finding the name is the difference of 2.99 or 49.99 on ebay lol

I thought i had posted where i got it.. sorry, It was a curb find from a few weeks ago.

:) If you want the long story-- Every bulk night i go rummaging around... Seen some good stuff and a bunch of boxes so i stopped and tossed the boxes in the car. Wound up with $400 in gold, 4 1960's Kennedy 1/2's.
some brass collector coins (not worth anything but brass scrap, just cool looking) Some U.S coast guard Auxiliary oak leaf pins, a 1940;s Haver Hill high school pin.. I don't even remember what else but there was more coins. Looked like someone died and they tossed everything on the curb.. pretty sad. All the dressers still had clothing neatly folded, The didn't even empty the fridge.. just left it there with the door open. Me and my sis picked the piles for a few days.
Anyway.... Haver Hill H.S is in Massachusetts so I'm gonna go in that direction and see if anything comes up WSS, Still could not find an email for D&C, only a phone number.

Why couldn't it have been a Z or Q or something :'( LOL oh well probably would still be a long search.

Sounds like me. ;D I have been a bulk trash day picker for years. I cant begin to list all the tools and collectables I have found. I furnished my last house, TVs, freezer, and lawn mower from the trash. The best is found when someone dies. Its sad to realize relatives often do not want anything. They dont even take the time to pick out the gold and silver..

Yes its best to ID before you sell eBay.

Most of the WSS (Secondary Schools) are out of the country. Too many to search. If it was American, it would most likely be WHS (High School)

I think your pin was made by Dieges & Clust Co. out of New York. They made pins for many different organizations and the military. They have been in business for over 100 years. Your pin looks like it's school related to me like the senior pins you could get back when I was in school. Good luck in your search.

Noticed that too, but it could also be a post secondary chool colloge or trade school. If it is from the 30's there is a chance it no longer exists or has changed its name.
