Is this brass or copper?

Just wondering if this is brass or copper? Any info would be helpful as I'm thinking about selling on ebay--not sure what to call it either. Also, it weighs a couple of pounds and is close to 2 ft. tall so advice on how to ship would be welcomed too. Sorry for all the Q's and Thanks in advance for any help!

Definitely brass or brass plate. Here is a similar one, though I seriously doubt anyone would pay this much for an unsigned, unmarked piece-

Thank You diggummup! Mine is not at all shiny like that one. I think this one sat in a garden for awhile.

Don't polish it though...it's taken time for that patina to build...let the buyer (if you sell it) polish it if they want.

That's a nice piece, and it is brass. SCDigger is correct - DO NOT polish it or clean it at all. Most collectors prefer the aged patina over clean and shiney. Good luck with it!

Thanks everyone! I will not polish it. I am still deciding whether or not to try to sell it. Has anyone shipped something this big/heavy through USPS? How did you calculate shipping costs? Should I take it post office to find out how much shipping would be? These may be silly Q's, but I don't know. I have always shipped small things that I can weigh at home or use flat rate boxes. Thanks again!

Yeah , get a good scale to weigh items on , get a good digital model and that way you can see what the cost will be from home and have it right.
You can get a very good scale for not much money if you shop around .

At what point does UPS become cost effective to use versus USPS? I have tried UPS (right across the street from USPS) on several occasions with larger items and walked out each time because they were so high priced.
