This afternoon I took my two mates Scott and Jenna along for a run, we visited this public place that thousands of people have climbed, up on top of this small hill, people have engraved their names into the flat rocks, some names date back many years, the ones that I saw were back to the year 1935, I am sure that they even go back to the 1800's.since Queenstown was established by The Settlers who came up from The Cape to settle in this area.
Anyway because it was a nice fresh sunny afternoon, I have had this urge the whole week to just get out and do some hunting with my Sovereign GT Minelab, I have a new friend who is also a member here who lives in The USA and he also went out this afternoon to hunt around an old house, thus it is going to be interesting to see what he has found as well.
Thus we started off at the bottom and soon we were ontop, there is this walk path that slowly winds itself up to the top, it goes round and round until it reaches the top, makes walking up the steep hill so much easier.
Anyway I managed to find an old spoon, it is very old, normally they were silver plated, sometimes even silver, however this one is very rusted, then I found some bullet heads, made from lead, they look like they could have come from a Martini Henery rifle, I also found some of their doppies, this type is the type that they used a very thing metal for the casing, some were even made from paper instead of the metal type, Then I found an old tin can it says 16 oz, soluble, there are a few other words, but I cannot read them nicely, the small button, I think it might have come from a pair of Levy Jeans, it says Moses Levy & Co. London.
Thus the items that I found did not mount to much, but we had a nice afternoon, the lower back is extremely sore, ground is too damn hard this time of the year, when we do not get any rain and I was using my small spade and old bayenot to dig with.
In a few weeks time I am going down to East London and will try the beach again, sure is nice digging on the beach instead of this hard ground.
Enjoy the pic's.
Tony let us see what you found today at the old farm house.
