My first ever gold ring pulled from the ground! I did find a wallet full of rings a couple years ago, but those were stashed, so I don't count them :tongue3:. Anyway, this the first time I have ever seen a gold ring in my plug. It was an awesome feeling! It was a choppy signal that was reading in the 40s and 50s on the AT Max. Once it was out of the hole, I was sure that it was going to be another pull tab or beaver tail. It was a huge surprise to see gold! It was an even bigger surprise to see that the band was engraved with "NEW ORLEANS. 1911"! The hallmark is a star and "A", which is for the Allsopp Brothers. They made high end jewelry in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I tested it when I got home and it tests 14k. This was definitely a great way to end the hunt. Thanks for looking and HH!

THAT is a great ring, I say that because, last week thinking one more pull tab?, out came a size 12 gold ring weighing in at 10.38 grams, testing out at 14k, but YOURS, with New Orleans 1911 engraved inside? makes it "So" much more of a find. Can't help but wonder what New Orleans was like in "1911". Nice, nice, and very nice find.

Stunning find, And you'll never forget you're first!!!!

Hi, wow Congrats on your first gold ring.:occasion14: Its a beautiful old ring. I have been hunting for just a little over 5 years now and have not found a gold ring yet. I am still hunting patiently for my first gold

Congrats on your first gold ring. I like the fact that its engraved with a place and date. That makes it more personal.

If ya want to find more of those start hitting any beaches close by or begin researching old swimming holes in your area and ho hunt them! Bound to be some good stuff people lost there years ago!
