The photo of this one laying on the ground does no justice as to how camouflaged
It was laying there. I thought it was a leaf, then discovered what it really was. I thought it may have gotten broken in use, but the more I look at it, I don’t think it was made symmetrically.
Not sure what type of material this is. Doesn’t look like chert to me.
Maybe impure obsidian? Looks like the material might be a little stronger.

South of you a bit. Does the mohogany obsidian typically have the black speckles?
I wonder if it was any more desirable? We have mountains of black obsidian....

Yes it can have little specks, big specks, Half red and black, red black and clear. Yes I believe they liked the red and mohog. better than the pure black. I have read where different colors had different attributes in their minds.Cali has a great amount of obs from north to south in different areas and all different colors. Check out Davis Cr. obsidian, pretty stuff.

Welsbury nailed it on the stone and yes it has those spots in it all the time. Very fine point, great find.

Thanks. First one I have found like this.
