That's the sweetest find this side of the ocean for 2019...French trade silver is too hard to come by, glad you were able to score a major goal!

That's an amazing find! I'm voting banner, never seen this style of Trade Brooch. Big congrats!

Killer score! :notworthy:

Oh man that is just so sweet. Beautiful design, and in that condition deserves to be up top.

today's hunt was duck duck goose egg lol
I still like that sword belt buckle...the brooch threw a shadow on it

LOL Yep it sure was. Had I ended things with the buckle being the best I would have been ok with that. But i still need a good button for the year!

Wow...that's REALLY nice!

What type of place were you on Patch? Tell us poor coin hunters more about the “shiny thing”! Since I like shiny things....

It's a silver annular or ring brooch and would date pre 1750 or could be older. Opinion greatly varies on that one and I haven't really heard from anyone who tells me WHY they think what they think. The site dated from about the 1720s to 1750s.

Looks way older than 1720's. The construction is different, almost a Medieval look to it (which would be quiet a find). I know similar ones were around in 1700's but their construction was flimsy and they were made out of a thin sheet of silver. This one is unique, for a North American find anyways

Amazing. I have no idea about trade silver, but like the other comment said looks old. Looks like an amazing find to make!
