I dug this 3 inch long piece of jewelry in a soccer field today. It has a fish head on one end and a tail on the other. Head and tail are silver, center is 14K. What is this? Earring? Nose ring?
Doesn't look gold and silver other than the colors...
But what do I know, I don't have it in my hand.
I don't see how it would clip into the hair, unless a rod (chopstick) went through the loops.
And they are on the bottom making it top heavy.
So after all of that... I would say it's a piece of art...
I believe it's from the mid 50s to mid 60s and made by a small studio artist jeweler. Most were made out of a gold filled wire and having one where the wire was arranged into your name was very popular and I've seen many as I hunt the 2nd hand market for things of interest a lot. I think the technique is called wire wrap jewelry https://www.google.com/search?hl=en......0....1.........0j0i67j0i8i7i30.wC-DGUw0N7k Not sure if your piece is marked correctly as it being made of solid gold and silver. To me it looks like gold filled wire and pewter, but that's what I see in just a picture, so I can't really say for sure.
